The three herds were not always what they were today. Many herds used to roam the Free Lands and never care for who owned what. That all changed one day.
The savannah, at the time, as called the Free Lands. The summers were blazing hot as global warming continued to become worse and worse. Small fires burned through tribes' homes and turned them away from their homes. As the fires grew bigger every time, soon a full fledge savannah fire blew through. The fire lasted for days. All animals evacuated except two.
At the time Frolik Cave wasn't named or known yet. Juril, a stallion, and Ujik a mare had found shelter in this cavern. Juril and Ujik were best friends, they were thinking of becoming mates before the fire burned through their homes. The two became fond of the land they found. After the smoke had died down and the smalls fires were put out, they emerged from the cave.
When the two saw what had happened to their homes, they decided to do something dramatic. Though it would take time, they would restart the zebras and create only three separate herds. They would name all the lands and crate the Lore of the Herds. The two did become mates and lead the neutral herd. They soon found that two other zebras whom they knew from foal hood, had also survived but at the Tranquil Pool.
Rori, who became the Dark herd's first king, ran with power and strength. The Dark herd soon got their mean personalities, or most of them did, from the next lord of the herd. Turi, a mare, ran as the first Light Queen. The zebras that joined these two were loyal to their past and present. They were quick minded and healthy.
Juril and Ujik had decided that the land would be called Juril. After the first king. Ujik had found a waterfall that gave off colours. Some said that she gave it it's colours but that may not be true. She named it after the first queen, Ujik.
The fire brought new life until the tsunami came. I wouldn't call it a large tsunami, but it was large enough to do damage to the herds, once again. Rori and Turi had alerted Juril and Ujik about the upcoming wave. Without anything else to say Ujik lead the four towards the Frolik Cave. They were safe inside it but the land wasn't. When they ran back to the territories, two small lakes were formed, Rori took the one closest to him and Turi took the one closest to her. They named them after the first King of the Dark herd and the first Queen of the Light herd.
The first royals died a fairly long time after that, now there are only a few zebras left. After the deaths none of the zebras found the herds of use to themselves. They became loners. Only a few of the zebras stayed. Now there are few, predators are continuing to trespass and kill zebras. With the population of the herds declining quickly, the few zebras left must dramatically fix this, just as their ancestors did.
